Don’t neglect the cover letter! Join us and see how to write a cover letter that showcases and differentiates you from all the other qualified candidates. Learn how to: Incorporate personal branding; Grab the reader’s attention with the first sentence; Allow the reader to skim the letter—just as they skim a résumé —and spot key words; Exclude fluff and assertions of greatness that don’t matter to companies; and Close with confidence and make a connection with the reader.
This presentation is led by Ed Lawrence, a professional résumé and profile writer who is dedicated to helping people gain meaningful employment or transition to a new career. A certified technical trainer and instructional designer for over thirty years, Ed understands the challenges in career transition, having moved from Marketing to IT to Training and finally to Career Coaching. Ed hasn’t just read about job-transition theory, he’s lived it. Having been laid off multiple times, he knows a bit about what you’re going through and how you feel. Ed is a certified professional coach (CPC), certified professional résumé writer (CPRW); National Certified Online Profile Expert (NCOPE), and is certified in the Myer-Briggs, DISC, Skillscan, and the Strong Interest assessments. For over seven years he has facilitated a practice-interview group for the unemployed, and is the official résumé-writer for the Framingham Public Library.
