Event Details

Chicopee, Indian Orchard, Ludlow, Wilbraham, and Palmer all had power canals on the Chicopee River during the 1800s.  This presentation from Robert Comeau of Historical Tours of Greater Holyoke will explain the history of those canals along with their mills, worker houses, and villages.  The Indian Orchard Canal will be compared and contrasted with the other five power canals.
