Purpose of Meeting
This free interactive workshop is to engage tweens and teens through hands-on climate math activities that lead to the design of a mini forest using what's known as "the Miyawaki method". Participants will be introduced to the six Miyawaki forests planted in the eastern part of Massachusetts and will explore how trees store carbon and restore ecosystems. Through guided design work, students will learn how forests grow, how carbon is sequestered, and how their own forest models can help spark ideas for restoring nature—right here in Springfield.
